Arriving at Venezia airport and transfer to Pordenone; meeting with the tour guide and visit of Cordovado, an ancient medieval Village with its castle, the area of the old Sant’Andrea parish church and the seventeenth-century area zone with the Dominican fathers’ convent. Afterwards we visit Valvasone, a small town on the right side of the Tagliamento, full of historical memories. The not-to-miss highlights: the medieval castle and its old town with ancient Renaissance houses, the square with its Renaissance structure, the ancient water mill, the streets, the sundials and the wells. We continue with the visit of a wonderful winery with a light dinner and tasting of Friulian wines. Return to the hotel and overnight.
After the breakfast we go to Spilimbergo, an amazing town that keeps an astounding Old Town, with a castle, from where you can see the beautiful “Painted Palace”. You can’t miss the visit of the ancient Mosaic School of Friuli, that will amaze you, a school known all over the world. In the afternoon we visit Maniago, a small town north of Pordenone known for its knives production. After the visit of the “Arte Fabbrile e delle Coltellerie” (Cutlery) museum we return back to Pordenone. Dinner, return to the hotel and overnight.
After breakfast, we meet the tour guide to visit Pordenone, a town full of charm, with its main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Free lunch. In the afternoon we stop at a famous chocolate shop to see the maitre chocolatiers work and prepare delicious chocolate specialties. At the end of the presentation we have free time to go shopping before going to a typical restaurant to try San Daniele ham and other local products. Overnight.
We have breakfast at the hotel and then we leave to discover the famous Collio’s DOC wines region and its beautiful landscapes: this is a vineyard area in the region of Gorizia that won the “Best in Travel 2016” award from Lonley Planet. We will follow a beautiful panoramic itinerary in the Friulian countryside and on the Collio hills, where we visit an historic winery, its green vineyards and we taste its wines matched with local products. Then we go to Cividale, to visit the city that was founded by Julius Caesar, and that nowadays is a UNESCO heritage. Return at the hotel and overnight.
After having breakfast at the hotel, we go to Grado, a beautiful town located near the sea, where you will visit the Old Town, its churches with beautiful frescoes and the square with Roman ruins. Free lunch. In the afternoon we go to Aquileia, the ancient capital city of the Roman Empire. Under the Augustus Empire, Aquileia became one of its strategic points. We have a guided tour of the cathedral and the archeologic ruins that became UNESCO heritage. At the end of the tour return to the hotel , dinner and overnight.
After breakfast we go to Trieste, the most mitteleuropean Italian city. There we meet the guide and we visit the city Old Town: We visit Piazza Unità and Palazzo Stratti with the famous “Caffè degli Specchi”; Borgo Teresiano, a crucial business center during the Augsburg age whit its wonderful neoclassical palaces; the Roman ruins; the synagogue and the orthodox churches. Free lunch and afterwards we go to Miramare Castle, where we visit this majestic residence. In the late afternoon we move to Carso, a hilly area not far from Trieste. We have dinner in a “osmiza” a typical wine bar in the Carso area where we try typical local wines, homemade ham and cheese. At the end we return to the hotel.
After breakfast we visit the Famous Giant Cave, where you can enter only with specialized guides. It is a unique natural compartment, famous for its dimensions: 100 meters high, 170 meters long, 75 meters wide. The deepest point in situated at 101.10 meters below the entrance. Here the guide will explain you everything about this underwater world, revealing the secrets of the Cave creation and its evolution. At the end of the tour we go to visit a famous winery set between the rocks. We taste some typical wines like Malvasia, Vitovska and Terrano, paired with typical products. At the end we return to the Airport of Venice.
